Stacy is currently working at Nationwide Children's Hospital as a research assistant in Biobehavioral Health. She is also working on a study concerning teenage girls and stress. She earned her masters in counselor education from Indiana University at Bloomington. She will finish a second masters degree from The Ohio State University in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2011.

Chemistry and Biochemistry
Sadie is earning her Ph.D. in Biochemistry at Stanford University. Her research has been published in both Biotechnology and Bioengineering and Journal of Clinical Investigation. She was also one of 11 finalists in the International Collegiate Inventors Competition held in Pasadena in October, 2007. Her invention was a bioreactor she developed at Otterbein.

Life and Earth Sciences
Steve is presently enrolled at Eastern Michigan University earning a Masters degree in Orthotics and Prosthetics. This is a unique Allied Health profession that provides both custom and off-the-shelf products for patients in need, ranging anywhere from simple braces to highly advanced prosthetic limbs. Concurrently, he is working as a technician at a local company in Northwest Ohio gaining priceless experience in the field. His direction of study is higly clinically oriented, as his goal is to become a licensed and certified practitioner in both disciplines. he has his thesis topic narrowed to investigating the history and efficancy of alternative types of flexible-brim prosthetic sockets commonly used for transfemoral amputees. Of the Honors Program, he writes, "I am confident that my experience in the Honors Program will once again prove its value."

Theatre
Aran is currently as a survey manager at the Strategic Research Group, Inc., where she oversees data collection for state and federal evaluations. She is also a producer for her own, along with another Otterbein alum's, theatre company called Part Wolf Productions. "My Honors work in theatre has helped me in my work as a theatre artist by setting myself and my resume above most of the many, many other theatre artists trying to get work in the field that they love and are passionate about," she said.

Lindsey is currently working on a three-year specialist program at Miami University hoping to receive her Ed.S. degree. "The strong research basis given to me through the Honors program has really helped me through graduate school. Even from day one of my assistantship, I was asked to start work on a literature review for a professor. Since I had already gone through this process, I was able to meet those demands and be confident in the work I had completed," she said.

Mary earned her Masters in Public Health at The Ohio State University, specializing in Public Health and Behavior and Health Promotion, in 2009.

Brandt is currently enrolled in the DDS program at The Ohio State University, College of Dentistry. He presented his Honors thesis in San Antonio, TX, at the Academy of Osseo Integration Annual Meeting. His research will be published in the Journal of Oral Implantology in an article entitled, Esthetic Evaluation of Materials Used to Fill Access Holes of Screw-Retained Implant Crowns.

Theatre
Since moving to NYC, Molly has received her Actors Equity and SAG card through regional theatre and television work. She recently appeared in a production of The Lieutenant of Inishmore at Berkeley Rep where the show enjoyed an extended run. She appeared in an episode of Law and Order SVU. Molly's thesis explored the application of drama and psychology in treatments for eating disorders. "The Honors Program inspired me to think about using theatre and my training in ways that could help others directly. I look forward to revisiting the ideas in my thesis and putting them into action at some point in my life," she said.

Danushka is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Applied Economics at Johns Hopkins University. She hopes to pursue international economics and economic analysis, ideally in a central bank. "The Honors Program opened the door for me to explore my interests in Economics and to pursue graduate studies. My experiences in the program definitely provided me the skills to explore different topics and conduct research in graduate school," she said.

Jillian is in medical school at Wright State University, Boonshoft School of Medicine in Dayton, OH. "The research opportunities I was given through the Honors Program really gave me a leg up in certain areas of study in my graduate courses," she said.

Michelle earned her masters in science fiction studies from the University of Liverpool in the United Kingdom. "My Honors thesis on the use of (sf) references in Congress was what led me into this program, and prepared me for the dissertation I submitted," she said.

Erica earned her Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular biology from Johns Hopkins University's Bloomberg School of Public Health, where she studied chemotherapy resistance and DNA repair. She now works at The Ohio State University conducting cancer research.

Stacey is currently attending graduate school at Georgetown University, School of Foreign Service, to earn a Master of Arts in German and European Studies. She also works as the Summer Programs Assistant for the Office of International Programs and was recently offered a research assistantship within her department. "The Honors Program was extremely helpful in preparing me for graduate school. I will have to write a Masters thesis before graduating next year, and I know my experience at Otterbein will help me with that project," she said.

Shelley received a BA with Honors in Writing and Studio Art with a concentration in Photography. She completed her MFA in Photography at Indiana University in the spring of 2008. She has most recently served as a full-time visiting assistant professor back at IU. At present, her work is part of the Flatfiles collection at the Contemporary Art Museum of St. Louis. She is currently creating work for a solo show at Gallery Tosei in Tokyo, Japan, which is scheduled to open in August 2010. "The Honors Program gave me the opportunity to work closely with a faculty advisor and gave me a taste of the commitment and tenacity that is required to pursue serious, self-motivated research in graduate school," she said.

Sarah is currently living in Shanghai, China. She divides her time between freelance editing, English tutoring, blogging on living abroad and working on the novel that started out of her Honors project. "Both in the workplace and in live in general, the Honors Program taught me how much i could achieve when I pushed myself and dedicated myself to the work. Although the work was challenging, in the end it was very rewarding. Committing to such a project showed me what I am truly capable of and that such work is well worth it," she said.

Laura is currently working for Ohio Health's Dublin Methodist Hospital in the Nutrition Services department as a Patient Nutrition Advocate. She plans to attend graduate school to combine her interest in social sciences and nutrition and wellness. "The Honors Program gave me great confidence in working independently on projects and being able to research and pull together information in a concise way for others," she said.

Chrissy is currently working at Denison University as the Interim Assistant Director of Residence Life. She completed her masters degree in Art Therapy at George Washington University in 2007. "The Otterbein Honors Program helped prepare me for the rigors of graduate school. I felt confident in my ability to conduct meaningful research, and I had an easier time writing my graduate practicum paper because of the process I went through while working on my undergraduate Honors thesis," she said.

Krystin earned a degree in Clinical Psychology from Xavier University in Cincinnati, OH. While at Xavier, Krystin became active in the Ohio Psychological Association of Graduate Students and was elected chair of the organization for the 2006-2007 academic year. "The research skills I learned through completion of my Honors project were enormously helpful in the process of planning and writing my dissertation proposal, as well as in collecting and analyzing my data. I was the first in my class to propose my dissertation," she said.

Sarah earned her masters in Higher Education and Student Affairs Administration from the University of Vermont. "Certainly the planning, time management, and editing of my Honors thesis assisted me in the process of my comprehensive paper, which is a qualitative research project exploring the experiences of twins in college and how college affects twins individuation," she said.

Whitney is currently working as a reading specialist at Burbank Elementary School in the North central Local School District in Wayne County, OH. She has created grade-level assessments for the English Language Arts Indicators from the Ohio Department of Education and made a web site for her fellow teachers to access to find and print resources she has created. In 2009, she graduate from the University of Akron through Wayne College with a masters degree in literacy.

Pam has performed in The Madras House, on off-Broadway show and is currently living in New York City. She works in the non-profit field for the NoVo Foundation, which gives grants to organizations that focus on empowering women, girls and social emotional learning for children. "One of the most rewarding and gratifying experiences in college was completing my Honors thesis. The sense of accomplishment after working on a project for over a year was a great capstone to the education I received at Otterbein," she said.

Teresa earned her Ph.D. from the University of Tennessee in 18th century British literature. She also co-chaired the NEXUS Interdisciplinary Conference. "I felt that the most helpful aspect of the Honors Program was the thesis. Entering a masters program, I felt more prepared than my peers in the program from the individual attention I had received and the experience of taking on a larger project," she said.

Clint is currently working on his doctorate at Ohio University in Social Psychology, and preparing to defend his doctoral dissertation. He completed a three-year fellowship with the Department of Homeland Security. He has also presents at the Annual Conference of the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapy in Philadelphia, PA; the Society of Personality and Social Psychology Convention in New Orleans, LA; the American Psychological Society Convention in Chicago, IL; and the Midwestern Psychological Association Midwestern Convention in Chicago, IL.

Kristen is currently working as a Case Administrator at the United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio. She is also the Foreclosure Coordinator for all the federal foreclosure cases that are filed at the Eastern Division Court. "The Honors Program prepared me for my professional work. The scope and complexity of having to partake in producing a two-year independent research project fits well into one of the main skills that I need to just do my job effectively on a day-to-day basis," she said. "The Honors Program also taught me the importance of being prepared for any situation."

Katie is currently a research fellow in the Graduate Center for Gerontology at the University of Kentucky College of Public Health, and works as a therapist at Family Counseling Service in Lexington, KY. She received a $70,000 grant which allowed her to concentrate on her dissertation: Dementia Caregiving Outcomes: The Impact of Caregivers Onset, Role Occupancy, and Care Recipient Decline. "I consider the Honors Program at Otterbein to be my most important and effective preparatory tool before entering my doctoral program. Not only was I given the opportunity to create and execute my own research, i was also introduced to the fundamental principles underlying effective research, which encompassed everything from grant writing to preparing my research for publication," she said. "It is truly an innovative and accelerated program, and I am fortunate to have been a part of it."

Wei is currently a project manager and business analyst for Barclays Capital CDO trading desk in New York City. She also started her own part-time business to teach Credit Derivatives Seminars to IT consultants who wish to obtain a position at investment banks. Wei earned her MBA in Finance and General Management at New York University's Stern School of Business. "Otterbein's Honors Program, especially the final project and presentation, helped me tremendously to build self-confidence and the ability to work both independently and as a team member," she said.

Katie received her masters in Higher Education and Student Affairs from The Ohio State University in 2002. She is currently a Senior Communications Coordinator at Nationwide Insurance in Columbus, OH. "In my current position, writing skills are very important, and my coursework at Otterbein, especially in my English Literature and Honors courses, has been of great benefit," she said. "The analytical skills that I learned from my Honors thesis have also been a great asset for problem-solving skills, which are needed in almost any position."

Jeremy earned his masters in social work at Columbia University's School of Social Work. He plans to do some work with youth in Vietnam and India. He has also recorded and released a full-length CD of original songs. "The Honors Program at Otterbein helped me understand and appreciate the challenge and rewards of a long-term project. It definitely was one of the academic highlights of my undergraduate education," he said.
