Get Involved in History
The Department is proud to sponsor chapters of Phi Alpha Theta and Pi
Sigma Alpha, the national honor societies of History and Political
Science.
Phi Alpha Theta, Beta Zeta Chapter
Phi Alpha Theta is a national, professional History Honor Society
whose mission is to promote the study of history through the
encouragement of research, good teaching, publication and the exchange
of learning and ideas among historians. It seeks to bring students,
teachers, and writers of history together for intellectual and social
exchanges, which promote and assist historical research and publication.
In recent years, the Beta Zeta Chapter has organized a range of
activities including field trips, guest lectures, movie nights, and
more. Any and all students with an interest in history are invited to
join our chapter. Students interested in learning more about PAT at Otterbein should contact Dr. Anthony DeStefanis.

Pi Sigma Alpha, Alpha Gamma Kappa Chapter
Pi Sigma Alpha is a national honor society designed to bring together
students and faculty interested in the study of government and
politics. With almost seven hundred chapters, it is the only honorary
for college and university students of government in the United States.
Chartered in 2005, the Alpha Gamma Kappa Chapter provides opportunities
for students to come together outside of the classroom and share their
interests in political science through a variety of activities including
hosting speakers, attending undergraduate conferences, and exploring
professional opportunities.
