Licensure Programs
Early Childhood Teaching Licensure
The Early Childhood Program (B.S.E.) leads to licensure for teaching ages three through eight or pre-kindergarten through grade three.
Choose one required concentration area from:
- Early Childhood 4-5 Generalist (includes endorsement)
- Early Childhood Intervention Specialist (includes second license)
- Reading (includes PreK-12 endorsement)
- Specialized Content Strand
Middle Childhood Teaching Licensure
The Middle Childhood Program (B.S.E.) leads to licensure for teaching ages 8-14 (grades 4-9).
Choose two required concentration areas from:
- Language Arts and Reading (does not include reading endorsement)
- Mathematics
- Science
- Social Studies
Adolescent to Young Adult Teaching Licensure
The Adolescence to Young Adult Program leads to licensure for teaching ages 12-21 (grades 7-12).
Available teaching areas include:
- Chemistry
- Integrated Language Arts (English Literary Studies major)
- Integrated Mathematics
- Integrated Social Studies (History major)
- Life Sciences
- Physics
- Physical Sciences, Chemistry and Physics (post-baccalaureate only beginning fall 2011)
Multi-Age Teaching Licensure
The Multi-age Program leads to licensure for teaching ages 3-21 (pre-kindergarten through grade 12).
Available teaching areas include:
- Foreign Language (French* or Spanish)
- Health and Physical Education (combined beginning fall 2010)
- Music Education
- Visual Art
*Otterbein University will no longer offer a major or teacher licensure in French beginning fall 2011.

- Early Childhood 4-5 Generalist Endorsement (Undergraduate/Graduate)
- Middle Childhood 4-6 Generalist Endorsement (Undergraduate/Graduate)
- Reading (Undergraduate/Graduate)
- TESOL (Graduate)
