Follow these instructions to complete your application for a Student Research Fund Presentation Award.
A full proposal includes:
-A completed SRF Application Form, also called the cover page.
-A project description, also called the narrative. See below for detailed instructions on what to include in the narrative for a Student Research Fund Presentation proposal.
-A budget table and budget justification.
-A copy of your acceptance to present a podium or poster presentation at a conference. The acceptance may be pending at the time of application; however, documentation of your acceptance will be required before the award is final.
- One letter of support from your research or creative work advisor.
- Applicants requesting a Presentation Award may submit a presentation proposal at the same time as a research proposal, but a separate application and coversheet must be submitted for each.
Describe your research
- If you will present research that was previously awarded SRF funds, you may use this section to write a brief abstract.
- What is/was the aim of your research? That is, what research questions did you hope to answer?
Significance
- Explain the importance of your project. How is it different than what has been done by others?
- Cite published references to establish your work within the context of your discipline. Include a works cited / bibliography section.
- How is your project important for others in your field or for society?
- Briefly describe how this project supports your professional growth and development.
Conference Presentation
- Name, location and dates of conference.
- Will you present at the podium or present with a poster?
- How do you intend to use the SRF Presentation Award?
- What measures will be used to determine the success of your presentation?
Budget Justification
- A project budget must address the following: total projected expenses, an explanation of the amounts budgeted, use of student research funds, additional funding and how it will be secured, and how your plans will be modified if additional funding cannot be secured.
- To explain the budget, applicants must complete the following Budget Table and address the additional questions in short answer format (see Budget Narrative).

- If more than one person from your department will travel to the same conference and share costs, and there are no expenditures unique to your needs, one budget from the department may be submitted on behalf of you and all participating students.
-Provide an explanation of the amounts budgeted for your travel/presentation. How will additional funds be secured? How your project will be modified if additional funding cannot be secured?
